This course establishes a fundamental appreciation of solar and wind energy systems. Given the intermittent nature of solar and wind resources, the technology options for utilisation of solar and wind energy face similar technical issues and, hence, can be treated in a similar manner. Topics covered in the course include solar and wind resource characterisation, solar PV, solar thermal, wind power and an introduction to energy storage options.
