This course aims to provide a comprehensive foundation for students to be able to develop own mathematical model of building systems and appropriately use advanced building simulation software for model-based design analysis.

The major objectives of this course are for students to:

• develop the mathematical (physical) model of building systems (fenestration,
  walls, floor)
• Learn analytical and numerical techniques to determine the time response of the
  systems
• Learn the issues and limitations of building energy modeling and simulation
• Appropriately use simulation models to support design decision process
