Course Description:

The objective of this subject is to provide the student with basic and qualitative knowledge about the Universe, as science currently understands it. In addition, it is expected that the student will be able to locate different observable celestial elements in the night sky, being able to understand the operating principles of telescopes. The approach of the subject is practical: it is planned to make a visit to ESAC (European Science Astronomical Center), as well as to use the means of the CESAR program. It is also proposed to use software that allows to simulate astronomical observations (Google sky, Planetarium)

The specific skills acquired by the students are listed below:

i. Understanding of current scientific knowledge of cosmology.

ii. Understanding the basics of astronomy

iii. Knowledge of the canopy of heaven.

iv. Knowledge of the constellations. Application of this knowledge to the orientation by observing the sky.

v. Knowledge of telescopes and other technological means for observing the Universe

vi. Knowledge of astronomical objects and scientific relevance
