This course introduces you to the use of operations research techniques for decision making by formulating the problem as a mathematical model, and then solving it by using computer-based tools. The techniques include decision analysis under uncertainty, probability models, forecasting, linear and integer programming, transportation models and other network optimization methods. The emphasis in the course is on formulating real-life problems as a mathematical model and their solution. This course will train you to think independently with rigor. It is designed for the student who enjoys thinking deeply and finding the insights behind the theory. Since the content is challenging, teamwork is important and emphasized in this course. You are expected to conduct experiments and work with your teammates to fully govern and understand those profound concepts in probability theory.
