Course Description:

Thermodynamics is a fundamental science concerned with heat and its relation to energy and work. Thermodynamics applies to a wide variety of topics in energy science and engineering—such as engines, phase transitions, chemical reactions, and transport phenomena. Results of thermodynamic calculations are essential for physics, chemistry, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, and materials science. This course introduces the student to the principles governing the energy exchanges that accompany physical and chemical transformations.
