Course Info

International Credits: 3.0
Converted Credits: 3.0
Country: South Korea
Language: English
Course Description:

This course leads students to understand how Korean culture, especially the Korean wave(Hallyu), is involved in contemporary global society, and further interacts with political, economic, or socio-cultural issues in theory and reality. Besides, a socio-cultural specification and historical tradition of East Asia should be also considered as necessary to compare Korean culture with its neighboring cultures such as Chinese or Japanese one. This course can be more useful for those who are interested in examining a diverse spectrum of traditional and global Korean culture through sharing their own cultural identities and spirits with other students. Above all, each student is expected to enhance his/her ability of understanding a seemingly different culture globally and contextually through reinterpreting both the self and the other culture more creatively.
