Course Info
The term "smart city" means a city that effectively solves urban problems, such as safety, welfare, and living, by utilizing information and communication technology. Minimizing flood damage by urban drainage system (UDS) and stable water supply by water distribution system (WDS) improve safety, welfare, and living in smart city. Modeling tools are necessary to design and operate a UDS and WDS in smart city. This course introduces two essential modeling tools in water resources engineering, Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) and EPANET, developed by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in US. These programs are widely used for hydrological and hydraulic designs in practice. Students can acquire background knowledge through classes with keywords such as smart city, water cycle, and network. Students also can utilize modeling tools through workshops and class projects.
