Course Description:
Objectives: On completion of this paper a student should be able to: 1. Describe and discuss the current and potential contribution of sustainable energy resources to the global and New Zealand energy scenes. 2. Analyse and quantify solar, biomass, wind, hydro and geothermal resources for a given site. 3. Describe and discuss selected solar, wind, biomass, hydro and geothermal conversion technologies, and carry out preliminary sizing calculations. 4. Model a simple renewable energy system with energy storage 5. Describe and discuss demand-side management strategies.
