Biotechnology and biochemical engineering; Biochemical constituents (cell unit of life, water, fatty acids and lipids, carbohydrates, proteins (structure and functionality), amino acids, nucleic acids; Biorefineries (industrial processes, products, system design and principles of life cycle analysis); Biochemical product formation, separation and purification (principles, equipment and strategies). Enzymes (structure and functionality, kinetics and inhibition, sources and application of enzymes for industrial and therapeutic uses; Application of molecular biotechnology for biochemical processes (genetic engineering).
