Course Info
Geology plays an important role in the construction industry in terms of maintaining a healthy environment and in the planning of infrastructure. The interpretation of landforms and earth processes is crucial to identify potential geologic and related human-made hazards that may have a great impact on civil structures and human development. This module provides the student with an understanding of how the Earth works, including an introduction to the rock cycle, igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks, weathering and geomorphological processes. The practice of map-based geological interpretation is also introduced.
