Course Description:

Casting Technology; covering a range of casting processes highlighting the various merits of the processes. Environmental impact of casting processes. Powder Technology; the main stages of component manufacture are covered along with the process variables which affect quality. Additive manufacturing and surface hardening processes. Metal Working / Forming; covering a range of processes including hot/cold working of metals, forging, extrusion, rolling, drawing, stretching and bending. Machine Tool Technology: single & multi point cutting, grinding, chip formation theory. Metrology; dimensional and surface finish measurements, machine tool calibration and laser interferometry. Statistical Process Control (SPC)
