This course aims to present a unified view of the fundamental concepts in optimization and the
diverse range of optimization problems encountered in science, engineering and business
enterprises, so as to equip you with an appreciation of the nature of such problems and with the
knowledge and skills to apply optimization to the design of components, devices, systems and
processes as well as to the solution of various problems encountered in these fields.
